Invested by Anhui Wonder Group and approved by the Ministry of Education, Anhui Wonder University of Information Engineering (hereafter abbreviated as AWUIE) was set up in 2001 with the support of Anhui Provincial Government. AWUIE is a full-time undergraduate university with over 7640 of full-time students and 2860 of adult education students. It consists of 10 departments including Computer Engineering Department, Electrical and Information Engineering Department, Mechanical and Electronic Engineering Department, Economic Management Department, Arts Department, Foreign Languages Department, Basic Courses Department and College of Further Education. And it also possesses 3 research centers specializing in computer application, electrical and mechanical engineering and Huaijun ( Huai Army - which is a history event) respectively. At present, with the engineering courses as its major and permitting management and liberal arts develop harmoniously, AWUIE has become an applied undergraduate university offering 41 majors.
Ⅰ. The Beautiful Campus
     Nearing Yanwan Lake, AWUIE is located at the foot of the beautiful Zipeng Mountain at the national 4A level in Hefei City. It boasts the picturesque scenery and beautiful layout of the architecture. At the center of the campus is the teaching sector represented by library and teaching buildings; the southern part of the campus is the experimental plot with the experiment center as its representative; at the two sides of the northern part are the living quarters with the recreational and sports areas in the middle of it. The architectural complex which were built and arranged as the natural landform of the mountain with diverse characteristics is quite unique contrasted by the lush cypresses and willows. With the clear water shining with every hue, the Zipeng Lake and Ziyun Lake look like two bright pearls inlaid in this beautiful campus. There is no one who came to AWUIE not exclaiming: “What a good place for study!”
Ⅱ.The Superior Facilities
     AWUIE covers an area of 1098 Acres and with 395 Acres as the reserve. The school building area reaches 220 000 square meters, including 140 000 square meters for teaching and administration. The total value of the apparatus used for educational activities reaches as much as 35 million RMB. It owns 61 labs used to make experiments for such majors as Principle of Mechanics, High-frenquency Circuit, programming, Animation and Accounting Simulation, so on and so forth; 5 shops for practice such as Numerical Control, Benchwork and Metalworking; 95 Multimedia Classrooms; 5 Language Labs; 34 computers per 100 students and 62 off-campus intership bases.
     The library has a collection of 620, 000 paper books, 580, 000 e-books, 420 journals in both Chinese and English, 60 kinds of news papers, 7 Electronic documents datebases. It is also equipped with management system of e-books , service system of computer network in order to share resources with the safegaurds system of the documents information of Anhui Provincial universities.
     In addition to the gymnasium, well-equipped and multifunctional, covering 5000 square meters, can accommodate many single provincial Athletic Contests at the same time, AWUIE has also completed 1 standard plastic track and field playground and a variety of fields for basketball, volleyball, tennis ball, badminton and so on.

Ⅲ.TheRich Faculty
    Besides 67 part-time teachers, AWUIE has 381 full-time faculty members, including 29 professors and 111 associate professors among them. The number of the teachers whose professional title is above associate professor accounts for 38.9%. There are 6 teachers holding doctor degree and 119 teachers holding master degree, the number of whom accounts for 34.8% among the full-time teachers. Among the faculty are 5 who enjoy the special subsidy of the State Council and Provincial Government, 2 senior model teachers at Anhui Provincial level, 9 MA Supervisors in the key Universities and 20 who are respectively the chairmen, vice-chairmen, standing directors and secretary-general of national and provincial-level academic body.

Ⅳ. The Normalized Teaching Management
     Adhering to the principle of focusing on the teaching, AWUIE has established over 30 management systems successively: such as systems of checking-up per day, notifying per month, examining in the middle of each semester, summing-up at the end of each term and conclusion of each school year. What’s more, the standards of teaching quality is also formulated to strictly monitor and assess teachers’ performance, and the supervisory control and security system for teaching quality have been gradually formed. So, AWUIE was given a full approval by Anhui        Provincial Education Office for its institutionalization and normalization of teaching management.
     AWUIE features the Dual Certificates education mode of “formal schooling and professional qualifications”. It implants the courses of social professional qualifications into the teaching plans during the Teaching Procedures, which will enable students to obtain both the diploma and one or two among the 34 kinds of professional qualifications or specialized skill certificates awarded by the Human Sciences Department, the Industry and Information Department, Department of Commerce, American Microsoft Corporation and American Cisco Corporation. The students who got the Dual Certificates account for 83.7% among the graduates.
Ⅴ. The Full-bodied Cultural Atmosphere
     With the “pleasant virtue, goodness, diligence, personal practice” as its school motto, AWUIE points up the teaching thoughts of “ viewing education as the essence, especially laying emphasis on moral education; seeing the knowledge as the foundation, especially attaching great importance to competence” and established the educational ideas of “pursuing subsistence on the basis of quality, seeking development on the distinguishing feature, serving for getting support and viewing the employment as orientation”.
     There are 9 teaching buildings named after the eminent people who are natives of Anhui Province and have made great achievements in their own fields, such as: “Zhuangzi Building”, “Bisheng Building”, “Jiaxian Building”, “Zhengning Building” and so on and so forth. And many famous wisdom pictures are put up on the walls of each building. Besides many sculptures with rich humanitarian atmosphere reflecting time spirit, the cultural plaza in the campus built with the historical relief pillars as its theme, can also reflect Anhui well-known people in technological and cultural fields and the development of Information Technology.
The Youth League Committee and Student Union often proactively organize students to develop a variety of activities like: recreation, sports and some other associations. So, the rich and diverse activities can enrich campus culture and improve students’ quality comprehensively.
     64 students have obtained prizes in the national or provincial contests since 2006, including the Bronze Medal won in the youth contest for the paintings in the “China’s International Painting, Calligraphy and Photography Show” in 2006, the first and second awards in the third Technique Contest of Anhui Provincial Vocational Schools in 2009, the third prize in the “final of modern logistic technique” held for the college students around the country and the second prize for the Animation in the “ College Students Contest of Vocational Technique” in Anhui Province .

Ⅵ.The Striking Points of Education
1.The Educational Mode of Combining Learning with Research and Production
     Closely relying on the professional associations such as: software, Electron and Mould, and the relevant enterprises, AWUIE has composed a steering committee for the cooperation between the Learning with Research and Production. At present, there are 62 large and medium-size enterprises having joined in it, like: Media Electrical Household Appliances, Changcheng Refrigeration, Changhe Automobile and Red Star Machinery. A plenary meeting is held each year to discuss personnel training and social needs, arrange students to practice in relevant enterprises, organize teachers to tackle the key problems of the enterprises’ techniques and declare projects with the enterprises. The educational mode of Learning with Research and Production promotes teachers’ professional proficiency, and some teachers have successively solved more than 10 difficult problems in terms of techniques for 8 enterprises since 2004 such as : Hefei Ruijin Digital Technology Limited Company and Hefei Wanxin Information Engineering corporation, which not only produced economic benefits for society but also improved their own capacity of solving practical problems. Also, AWUIE has declared and obtained 6 provincial natural science projects since 2006 by joining efforts with such enterprises as Anhui Yingliu Group and Hefei Kezhen Industry and Commerce Corporation.
2. The Training Base for Personnel in the Field of Computer Application and Software Technique
     AWUIE was appointed by Ministry of Education and Ministry of Information Industry as national Training Base for Personnel in Shortage in the Computer Application and Software Technique in 2003. Besides, a special fund amounting 3.2 million RMB was allocated by The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance (No. [2005] 295) to reinforce the construction of this base in 2005, which is a unique one among the private universities in Anhui Province.
3. The Excellent Grade in the Assessment of Personnel Training of higher Vocational Colleges around the Country
     With the striking effect of institutionalization and normalization in the respect of teaching management, AWUIE obtained an “Excellent Grade” in the Assessment of Personnel Training of the Higher Vocational Colleges in China organized by Ministry of Education in 2008, which is also a sole one among the private universities in Anhui Province.
4. Six Leading Majors at the Provincial Level
     Since 2008, in the project of constructing quality engineering in universities implemented by provincial Education Office and Public Finance Office, 6 majors were approved as the provincial Leading Majors, including “Software Technique”, “Comic and Animation”, “Accounting and Auditing”, “The Application of Electronic Technology”, “Business English” and “Digit Control Technique”. And the reformation of “2+1” personnel training model was confirmed as the “provincial important project for teaching reformation in colleges”. Moreover, 3 young teachers were elected as the new outstanding figures in the provincial teaching forum, and the “Experiment and Practice Center of Digit Control Technique” was granted as a good example in this field. Therefore, the number of the important projects especially the 6 leading majors at the provincial level is the largest among the private universities in Anhui Province.
5. The Constant Honours conferred by the Education Department and Provincial Education Office for Graduates’ Employment
     AWUIE was honoured by the superiors for several times for its graduates’ employment rate keeping above 98% since 2004. It is the common sense from the employing units that graduates from AWUIE have a strong hands-on capability and a good comprehensive quality. To make it more soothing, a great number of graduates have become the basic-level leaderships and the mainstays in their fields, and a plenty of successful graduates spring up to become self-employed.
     It is a great honour for AWUIE to be conferred the entitle of “Model Private University for the Students’ Employment in China” by the Guidance Centre for the University Graduate of Education Department in 2005 and granted as “ the Advanced Unit for the college graduates’ employment in Anhui Province” by Provincial Education Office from 2008 to 2010.
     To create new resplendence from the new starting point under the guidance of the Outlook of Scientific Development, AWUIE will earnestly implement the educational program outlines, strive to further enlarge the investment, ceaselessly improve the educational conditions and teaching quality, devote more time and energy to the innovation of running model, fostering the running characteristics and improving running level in order to make itself be a first-class, well-known domestically and application oriented university with high-level and bright features.
